Our Restorative Dentistry Services
Dental Fillings
Dental fillings are used to fill cavities left by tooth decay. They are made of plastics, metals, glass, or a combination of these. Fillings can also be used for teeth that are chipped, cracked, or worn down.
Joondanna Family Dental is proud to offer our patients high-quality dental fillings. Our fillings are made from durable materials that are designed to last for many years. The material is also colour-matched to your natural tooth colour, so it will be virtually indistinguishable from your other teeth.
Dentures
Joondanna Family Dental offers a wide range of dental services, including dentures. Dentures are removable appliances that replace missing teeth. They can be used to improve both the function and appearance of your smile.
Our dentures are made from high-quality materials and are custom-fitted to ensure a comfortable and natural-looking fit. Whether you're looking for full dentures or partial dentures, we can help you find the perfect fit. Our team will work with you to determine the best option for your individual needs.
Dental Crowns
Joondanna Family Dental offers high-quality dental crowns designed to protect and improve the appearance of your teeth. Crowns are caps shaped like teeth and fitted over decayed or damaged teeth to restore their shape, size, and strength. They can also be used to improve the appearance of teeth that are misshapen, discoloured, or uneven.
We use the latest technology to create custom-made dental crowns that fit your unique smile. Whether you need a crown to cover a tooth that is damaged or discoloured, or you want to improve the overall look of your smile, Joondanna Family Dental can help.
Dental Bridges
A dental bridge is a non-removable oral appliance that replaces one or more missing teeth. It is usually made up of two crowns that are placed on the teeth adjacent to the empty space, with a false tooth (pontic) in between. Dental bridges are an ideal way to restore your smile and your ability to chew and speak properly.
At Joondanna Family Dental, we understand that tooth loss can cause problems for your dental health and overall well-being. That's why we offer high-quality dental bridges that can help restore the structure and function of your smile. Our friendly team will work with you to design a customised treatment plan based on your individual needs and preferences so that you can feel confident in your results.

FAQs
FAQs about Restorative Dentistry
Why should I restore my teeth?
Your dentist may recommend dental restorations if you have damaged, discoloured, missing, worn, or crooked teeth. They offer the following benefits:
- Restorative dentistry can restore the natural function of your teeth. In addition to helping you chew your food more effectively, it can also improve your ability to speak clearly.
- A dental restoration can also improve the aesthetics of your teeth. Missing teeth can lead to low confidence, which negatively impacts your life in other ways. All restorations are custom-made to match your other teeth in colour and size, so that the replacement is seamlessly integrated into your smile.
- Replacing a missing tooth can prevent further damage to your mouth. If you have a gap between your teeth, the adjacent teeth could start to move out of position. As your remaining teeth shift, you risk the loss of more teeth as the roots of each tooth cannot hold tightly to the jaw bone.
What are the reasons why I need dental fillings?
What are the benefits of dentures?
Dentures offer many benefits, including:
- They are affordable tooth replacements.
- Missing teeth can adversely affect how you eat and speak. A denture fits tightly over your gums and improves your chewing and speaking ability.
- As soon as you lose an entire tooth, the neighbouring teeth will begin to fill in the gap. Wearing dentures prevents your remaining teeth from moving into the gaps and causing further damage.
- Missing teeth can lead to jawbone loss. Dentures can prevent sagging of the face and keep your face looking young.
- Dentures are a popular tooth replacement option because they look and feel like natural teeth.
How do dental crowns work?
Dental crowns are cemented over the visible part of the tooth. Their purpose is to restore the tooth to its natural size, shape, appearance, and strength.
After root canal treatment, too much of the original tooth may be lost. A dental crown could be used to cover and protect the damaged tooth. Additionally, they are used to protect weak teeth from breaking, conceal stained or misshapen teeth, and hold a dental bridge in place.
What is the process of getting a dental bridge?
First, an assessment is made as to whether a dental bridge is the most appropriate means of replacing missing teeth. Your dentist will check your mouth and take X-rays of your jaw to diagnose your dental health condition and determine the best treatment.
Your dentist will reshape the two healthy adjacent teeth by filing them down to prepare them for a dental bridge. Your dentist will then take a mould, or impression, of your mouth. The dental laboratory will use the mould as a model to fabricate your bridge, false teeth, and crowns. Your dentist may provide you with a temporary bridge while your permanent bridge is being made.
At a second dental appointment, the permanent bridge is installed. In this step, the temporary bridge will be removed, and the permanent bridge will be cemented into place with dental cement.
