DVA Card Holders

At Joondanna Family Dental, veterans receive excellent dental care. The Department of Veterans’ Affairs offers coverage for dental treatment to our veterans depending on the type of Veteran Health Card presented. Veteran Gold Card holders receive coverage for all dental services. They only need to provide an assessed clinical need for treatment. On the other hand, the Veteran White Card holders have more restrictions for coverage wherein their dental treatments must be in response to a service-related condition.

The DVA provides full coverage for approved dental treatments. Patients will simply have to provide proof of the medical need for the treatment. However, an Annual Monetary Limit (AML) of $2,640 per calendar year applies to high-cost items. These include treatments like dental bridges and crowns. Should the cost of treatment exceed the AML, a co-payment will be required. Exemptions from the AML are made for ex-prisoners of war. AML exemptions include treatment for accepted service-related injuries and malignant cancer affecting the jaw and teeth.
